Hard requirements first

First, we remove games that do not support your main platform or chosen play mode. For example, a solo-only game cannot appear in local co-op results.

Then we find the best fit

Games score higher when they match your mood, available time, budget and other devices. In the optional AI finder, concrete concepts are also matched against game titles and descriptions, and a small shortlist is reranked. Games you mark as played or not for you are removed from later results on this device.

Genres and themes

Genres mainly describe how a game plays, while themes help describe its mood and setting. For example, strategy and tactical games can fit a challenge, while drama and mystery can support a story-focused request. These details improve the ranking but do not automatically exclude a game, because some catalogue entries have incomplete genre or theme information.

Why only three?

The finder is designed to help you choose, not create another endless list. Three explained recommendations are easier to compare and act on.

Catalogue and quality

The title search covers 168,637 IGDB entries released across IGDB's available release history. Recommendations use a smaller quality-checked group: a game needs a description, enough ratings and a supported platform. Steam Deck and co-op results remain limited until compatibility details can be verified. Regional price filters stay limited until a reliable store-specific source is connected. Session length is an estimate based on the game's genre, not measured playtime.
