WHY I CHOOSE HEAVY TANKS IN WORLD OF TANKS
Heavy tanks are the part of World of Tanks I enjoy most. I like taking armour and a large gun to the front line, where positioning and the willingness to hold ground can shape the battle. The Type 5 Heavy and Maus are my favourites.

01
Why heavy tanks suit me
Heavy tanks give me a clear purpose. Their armour and large guns encourage a deliberate style in which choosing the correct route matters as much as aiming. I enjoy knowing that my vehicle is expected to meet the enemy where the pressure is strongest.
The class feels powerful, but not careless. A heavy tank can survive fire that would quickly remove a lighter vehicle, yet poor positioning still exposes weak areas, creates crossfire and leaves a slow tank with no easy way to escape.
02
The front line is where I want to be
I prefer playing at the front rather than waiting far behind the team. At close and medium distances, armour use, corners and timing become immediate problems. Moving forward can create space for teammates, while holding a useful position can prevent the enemy from taking control of an important route.
Front-line play is not the same as driving forward without a plan. The challenge is applying pressure without giving away the tank too early. Every push needs support, a route and an understanding of which enemy guns are ready to fire.
03
Large guns make each trade meaningful
Large guns are a major part of the attraction. A heavy shot can make an opponent reconsider a push, but missing or firing at the wrong target can leave a long opening before the next round is ready.
I like that rhythm. It turns a close fight into a sequence of decisions about when to expose the tank, which enemy matters most and whether taking a hit is worth the chance to return one. Damage is important, but the threat of the gun can influence a position even before it fires.
04
Why the Type 5 Heavy is a favourite
The Type 5 Heavy represents the enormous, heavily armoured style I enjoy. Its size and presence make it feel like a moving strongpoint, and its gun gives the vehicle the weight I want from a top-tier heavy tank.
Its size and limited speed also demand commitment. The official profile stresses that the initial direction must be chosen carefully because changing flanks can be difficult. That trade-off fits the class: a strong front-line vehicle is most useful when it reaches the right battle before the outcome has already been decided.
05
Why I also return to the Maus
Maus is my other favourite. It is another tank built around the idea of armour, mass and front-line presence. I enjoy vehicles that can occupy space and force the enemy to think about how they will get through rather than relying only on speed.
The armour does not make Maus invulnerable. Angles, weak points, artillery, flanking and concentrated fire still matter. For me, learning to make that armour useful is more interesting than treating the hit-point total as permission to absorb unnecessary damage.

What a new heavy-tank player should understand
A heavy tank is often too slow to repair a bad decision. Before committing, look at the team line-up, identify the likely heavy-tank route and check whether allies are actually following. Armour works best when the enemy cannot easily shoot from several directions.
Players who want speed, scouting or constant relocation may find heavy tanks restrictive. Players who enjoy holding ground, managing armour and making a large gun count may find the same slower movement satisfying. That is why the Type 5 Heavy and Maus fit me so well.
World of Tanks is at its best for me when a heavy tank reaches the front line, turns its armour toward the threat and makes the next large-calibre shot matter.
